Welcome to our World of Micro Adventuring Tandem Cycling

We started our tandem journey as far back as 2015, we are Gail and Mike and this blog was born. But in a story too long and largely irrelevant to the present, we went our separate sporting ways: one into the sport of kings; that of horses (the phrase "a king's ransom" is used for a very good reason in this field😀) the other into the much cheaper world of road cycle racing😏

Now, nearly a decade on, two twits are reunited on just two wheels. Adventures planned, limitless time and quasi-limitless funds due to the happenstatial budget reality that it's very difficult for the stoker to spend much when cycling compared to lounging at home/garden centre/shopping mall etc😄

So, let us see where this latest chapter in our lives leads us......

More from the Medoc

One of the many small hamlets that dot around the western shore of Lac Lacanau, giving access to the lake

The cycle trail follows the coastal littoral in many sections as well as more inland through the forests. Either way it's rarely more than a kilometre
from the track to amazing beaches.

One of the most beautiful places we visited and one we shall return to; next time for more than just a few hours - Cap Ferret on the Arcachon Basin

A Week on a Tandem in the Medoc - The cycling tracks

We had an amazing week on the Tandem in the Medoc, arriving 15th September. Our first 'holiday' as such primarily for cycling, so we used Lacanau Ocean as our base from which to ride out each day and explore the area.
There are hundreds of kilometres of dedicated cycle routes. These are exclusively for cycles. Some closely follow the roads; others link between towns and cut across open countryside or forests; most are a network through the forests or follow the coast - their common feature is they are all tarmac or concrete.
This one crossing the dunes in the forest between Lac Lacanau and Lac Hourtin.

Alongside these routes are what they call 'Pistes Cyclable'. We cycled many of these as our tandem is a VTT but most could still be followed on a decent hybrid - very few required mountain bikes.
